Zeitgeist - Butt compositions

Nothing is permanent. Ideals of beauty are constantly shifting, and it is with a great fascination I look at how fetishization of large butts shaped the culture of the 2010s. That which is seen as the pinnacle of beauty can soon turn grotesque, as ideals changes with the times. As an artist I am interested in how culture can both dictate and question what comes to viewed as ugly, sick and/or aberrant. This series of ink drawings is a meditation on the transitory nature of beauty, and how our concept of identity is formed by cultural norms.
